To Tuk in Ten Documentary

10 Minutes to Tuk

In January 2018, Lead Photographer of Take Off Photography, Jason Cole embarked on an expedition to the Arctic, travelling the new road from Inuvik, Canada to Tuktoyaktuk, Canada with the goal of being the first to document this route. The new road, known as the Mackenzie Valley Highway, was completed in November of 2017 and provided access to an area that could only be accessed by ice road in the winter or plane in the summer prior to the new road’s construction. Jason’s journey started in Vancouver, Canada and to complete this trip, he outfitted a Ford Camper van, travelling in weather that hovered around -45 Celsius during the time he spent in Northern Canada. Known to locals as “the Visitor”, Jason discovered the challenges of winter in the North, often being isolated for miles in every direction during his journey, while learning about the landscapes and people that make this a unique place to visit. A portion of proceeds from any pictures sold will go to the Cerebral Palsy Association of BC.
